-Muigai wa Njoroge’s first wife, Njeri, has revealed that they parted ways with her singer husband.
-While steering clear of controversy, Njeri said, “ We both tried, but it never worked.”
Kikuyu music superstar Muigai wa Njoroge’s wife, Gladys Njeri, has revealed she is no longer married to the singer.
Njeri said the breakup was the culmination of ceaseless efforts to stay together with no success.
This is the first time Njeri wa Muigai has come out to expressly admit she has broken up with her singer husband.
“The sad thing is that sometimes we try things out and they fail to work out. Neither Muigai nor I am a bad person. I respect him a lot,” said Njeri.
Njeri, who made the revelation in an interview on Kameme FM, however, hailed Muigai wa Njoroge as a good husband.

He particularly hailed the singer for taking care of their children with her.
“He is a very responsible man. And I respect him for that.”
The influencer painted a portrait of a struggle to keep her marriage after her husband married a second wife.
She said she finally gave in after she realised she was constantly becoming angry and sliding back to alcoholism.
“I realised it was time to quit after I realised I was increasingly becoming angry and sliding back to alcoholism,” she said.
In a recent interview, Njeri disclosed that polygamy was her greatest fear since her days in marriage.

She said she had even warned her husband that she would walk out of the marriage if he brought home a second wife.
“I fought him. I went through a phase of stress that, at one time, I even considered unaliving myself. I could not come to terms with the fact that my husband had married a second wife,” she said.
Njeri said Muigai left their Mwihoko home in Githurai 45 and left her with children as the rift between the two increased.

Muigai wa Njoroge had, in the past, paraded his two wives in public in a bid to portray a perfect polygamous union.
