Editor’s note: Job Kulamo details his experience searching for and shipping CBD products to Africa.

Buckle up, fellow adventure seekers, as I embark on a quest into the wild, wild world of CBD in Africa.

Imagine this: I stumbled upon the magical realm of CBD products online.

Curiously, I carried an absolute conviction that my parents would mistake it for their beloved ‘recreational bhang.’

As I dove headfirst into this green oasis, the journey proved to be a rollercoaster of hilarity and surprises.

My initial steps into the world of CBD were prompted by many hours of internet research.

Although I am no scientist, the information overload about cannabidiol had me nodding along.

It is like I was auditioning for a sitcom with a CBD theme.

“CBD, not THC,” I repeated to myself, trying to make the distinction stick in my mind.

From a distance, I could hear my parents’ voices warning about the supposed dangers associated with “that stuff.”

Equipped with recently acquired knowledge, I set out on a quest to locate CBD products in Africa.

I had no idea that this trip would resemble negotiating an African savannah. This meant unanticipated detours and the occasional hilarious spill.

I came across a plethora of CBD products as I explored the online market, each claiming to be the holy grail of relaxation.

The options were thrilling and confusing. They include those that promised to make me the Zen Master of the Serengeti, as well as chocolates loaded with CBD.

I imagined myself enjoying a CBD-infused paradise where I could relax in a hammock, sip tea, and relish in the African sunset.

All in all, I had to confront the difficult challenge of persuading my parents that CBD was not the same as the infamous “bhang.”

Equipped with my acquired knowledge, I set out on a journey to enlighten them. This is notwithstanding the myths about “stoners” and hallucinations that perpetually replayed in their minds.

“Sit down, Mom and Dad. One evening, I said, “I have something important to tell you,” prepared to drop the big reveal.

Their expressions changed to a lovely mix of surprise and uncertainty as I launched into my passionate speech about the marvels of CBD and its benefits.

They were persuaded that I was either a botanical genius or had lost my faculties after my sincere attempt at giving a TED Talk on CBD.

Then came the parental involvement, during which I was forced to listen to their distorted viewpoints and colourful tales of the good old days.”

They claimed that CBD was just a fancy name for the hallucinogenic plant they used to think was a must for passing a certain stage in life.

As an 18-year-old, it was like attempting to teach a giraffe to tango—a beautiful sight but ultimately ineffective.

My parents’ amusing scepticism didn’t stop me from continuing with my mission.

I searched the internet for reliable vendors who could ship CBD products all the way to the centre of Africa.

It was a task akin to negotiating the thick African bush. Or, should I say, avoiding false information and suspicious sellers selling dubious products?

I could just hear the virtual drumbeats of the CBD safari resonating in the background with every click and browse.

My excitement mounted when I came across a website offering to send the CBD treats I had selected right to my door. The website had very good reviews as well.

It brought to mind a clandestine mission to sneak herbal treasures past my parents’ prying eyes.

I couldn’t help but smile as I waited for my products to arrive. I was thinking of my parents seeing me as the gullible lead character in some stoner comedy.

When the delivery day eventually arrived, I became really excited. I picked up the item discretely, half anticipating a cloud of smoke and a chorus of guffaws as I did.

Not at all like the legendary ‘recreational bhang’ my folks had imagined, much to my relief (and a little disappointment).

With my arsenal of CBD products in hand, I set out on a voyage of self-discovery and relaxation, all the while laughing at the ridiculousness of my mission.

I enjoyed my CBD gummies in my make-believe hammock and took in the African sunset.

In summary, obtaining CBD products in Africa is like going on an exciting safari—full of jokes and miscommunications.
