Versatile comedian Terence Creative hailed Fred as one who held his hand as he entered the comic industry.

“You’ve been part of my career and growth in the industry; you always treated me as a brother and hosted me when I had nowhere to go; you gave me a stage and paid me,” wrote Creative in a Facebook post.

“I will always treasure the moment we shared the stage together from Tribeka, Taj Mall, Hearts, I Club, etc. till we got to the Churchill show and then to hosting our first TV show together: KTN Crazy Comedy.”

“Together we suffered, together we learned, and together we inspired, made people laugh, and created great memories.”

Here are more messages of condolence:

Millicent Omanga: The creative industry has lost a gem. Fred Omondi brightened our living rooms with his addictive comedy renditions. That he has tragically lost his life in a road accident is heartbreaking. I commiserate with his family, friends, and fans. May his soul find perfect peace.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko mourned the departed comic on X:

“I’ve learned with sadness of the sudden passing of Fred Omondi, brother to comedian Eric Omondi, following a road accident along Kangundo Road. Fred was reportedly hit by a Forward Travellers matatu early this morning while on a boda boda and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mama Lucy Hospital.

The late Fred Omondi was an MC and event organiser during my daughter’s graduation party. He did a tremendous job by bringing on board top artists, dancers, and gospel singers to entertain our guests.

On behalf of my family, I pray God comforts and gives Omondi’s family enough strength to sail through this storm. Receive my sincere condolences.”
