Sonko Shuts Down 250 Million Mombasa Club, Blames Theft by Employees

Mike Sonko

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has shut down his nightclub in Mombasa.

The politician disclosed the same in a leaked audio where he was responding to claims by a former employee that he doesn’t pay his workers.

The employer in question stated that he resigned from Volume Club on grounds that he was not getting paid by the politician.

In the audio, Sonko is heard lamenting how his former employee dragged his name during an interview with a 5-star hotel.

Mtu akitafuta kazi, aende atafute na jina lake, na CV yake, don’t go out there saying that I don’t pay you. Hizi payrolls zote huwa nazianika kwa mtandao. I have invested over KSh 250 million in this to help you, not for you to come and steal from me

“Jackson, you pass the interview well at Serena, when asked why you left Volume you say that I don’t pay. The bosses there are my friends, so you’ve even lost opportunities,” he said.

Sonko noted that he was forced to close down the club because of theft by his employees while he is busy on campaign trails.

“I have closed down Volume because of your theft. You see that I’m busy with campaigns you decide to steal. You cut off the power on Saturdays and switch off the CCTVs and sell alcohol as you please. You’re stealing from me and you’re not even ashamed,” he added.

Elsewhere, Sonko sparked reactions after a video showing him dancing at a local entertainment joint emerged on social media.

In the company of two female revellers, Sonko is seen dancing the night away while holding wads of cash in his hands.

The women are seen twerking as Sonko watches in excitement.

One of the women, dressed in a white top and a black silk tight shook what her mama gave her so well that the ex-Nairobi governor parted with some cash.

Sonko had hit out at his political rivals while showing off his new nightclub located in Shanzu, Mombasa County.

Following his impeachment in December 2020, the former county boss took some time off the public before getting into business and launched Volume VIP Club.

Sonko shared photos alongside a number of revellers, maintaining that there is life aside from politics.

Those who thought politics ni kila kitu ni bure kabisa. Kazi ni kazi hebu oneni how God is faithful. Yani the devil closes one door for you and God immediately opens another one and life goes on as usual
