DP Ruto Responds on Leaked Audio of Him Wishing to Slap Uhuru

Deputy President William Ruto has reacted to an audio recording where he wished to slap President Uhuru Kenyatta following the annulment of the 2017 presidential election.

Speaking in a campaign trail in Meru County, the second in command insisted that he made no mistake by forcing Uhuru to run again following the annulment.

DP Ruto argued that he only forced Uhuru to participate in the election rerun which is contrary to the claims peddled around by his political foes.

“They are now secretly recording people and sharing it all over that Ruto pushed the President. Did you want us to allow him to leave the seat which we woke up at 5 am?” DP Ruto posed.

Adding; “Even If I forced him, is there any problem? Was it not because he is my friend. Allow me to ask, when Maraga nullified the elections and ordered that we should go for a repeat, did you want him to drop his bid. Would you have allowed him to leave us in the dark after all we did to ensure he wins the seat?”

He said they had worked hard to win the seat and they could not let it go just like that because the Supreme Court had invalidated the presidential election.

“I did the majority of the campaigning, I would hold three meetings before the president joined me. There was no way I would allow Raila to take the seat from him – even if it meant pushing Uhuru to whatever limits, I would,” DP Ruto added.

As earlier reported on GOTTA.news, DP Ruto recalled an instance where he engaged President Uhuru Kenyatta in a heated confrontation.

It is reported that the two engaged in the heated exchange that nearly turned physical hours after the annulment of their 2017 election win.

Speaking in a meeting with Kikuyu elders at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi, DP Ruto said Uhuru was distraught over the annulment that he nearly gave up.

“So, ndiyo huyo… Oh, sasa, hii maneno, sijui nini, mimi sitaki, mimi nataki kuenda Ichaweri, sasa mimi sitaki, wacha tuachane na hii kitu,” DP Ruto recalled what Uhuru said.

DP Ruto said were it not for the respect that the has for Uhuru he would have slapped him.

“I looked at him and told him ‘you!’ It’s only that I was being respectful, I would have slapped him. How could we just quit,” he said.

The DP said it took his insistence for Uhuru to accept to run again for their second term in office after their meeting at State House.
