Joe Kadhi: Revered Journalist and Media Scholar Dies

Celebrated journalist and media scholar Joe Kadhi is dead.

According to the family, the former Daily Nation Managing Editor took his final bow on Wednesday, June 29 at a Nairobi hospital.

Eulogizing Kadhi, Citizen TV Director of Strategy and Innovation Linus Kaikai hailed him as a mentor and a legendary trainer.

“Sad day; veteran journalist Joe Kadhi has passed on. We have lost a mentor, professional guardian, legendary trainer and a pioneer of the golden generation,” Kaikai said.

Being a muslim, Kadhi is expected to be interred on Thursday, June 30.

Having practiced journalism after over 20 years, Kadhi worked as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi (UoN), United States International University Africa (USIU) and Addis Ababa University.

He was also the managing editor of the Daily Nation and chaired the editorial board of the Media Observer magazine.

The veteran journalist was mourned by netizens who remembered him for his mastery of objective reporting and print journalism.
