A Namibian journalist, Jessica Kaimu, has recounted how she was sexually assaulted by the late Temitope Balogun Joshua aka TB Joshua.

According to a report aired by the BBC, Kaimu joined the Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan) with the blessings of her parents, who later returned to Namibia.

She says she became part of TB Joshua’s disciples, who did everything the latter asked them to.

She said she was just 17 and a virgin when the televangelist raped her in the bathroom of his penthouse. This, according to Kaimu, was within weeks of her becoming a disciple.

“I was screaming, and he was whispering in my ear that I should stop acting like a baby… I was so traumatised, I couldn’t cry,” she says.

Kaimu says she was repeatedly violated during the five years she spent as a disciple.

Kaimu is among over 20 former women who have come forward to expose late TB Joshua as a sexual offender.

The BBC documentary has opened the lid on the activities at TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church for All Nations (Scoan).

Escape

In a TEDxTalks episode named From Owned to Ownership, Kaimu said disciples did not have access to their passports and phones unless given permission.

“We were never free,” she said.

She said she managed to escape after joining the church’s telephonic prayer line department.

“So, I worked hard; I cut my hair. I became as ugly as he wanted me to be, and I was let go a little bit. Then he appointed me as the prayer line phone coordinator. Now I could have airtime to call,” she said.

She eventually managed to leave Scoan and was back in Namibia on October 14, 2013.
