The embattled fake lawyer Brian Mwenda has declared his interest in going into politics.

Mwenda said he would vie for the Maara MP seat in Tharaka Nithi County.

“Perhaps this was made for a bigger purpose, and let’s see where this takes us.”

“Now I’m thinking about politics. Whoever is trying to break me, just watch me. You know you cannot tell tomorrow; you just do your best and wait on God,” he said.

He said he felt grateful for the support he had received from across the globe.

“I feel blessed and lucky. And perhaps the next Member of Parliament for Maara Constituency,” he said.

Mwenda hit local and international headlines after being accused of impersonating a law practitioner and representing clients in court.

He was arrested on October 17 and later released on a police bail of KSh 100,000.

Mwenda was arraigned on Wednesday, October 18, and six charges, including forgery of documents and identity theft, were levelled against him.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in particular has vowed to ensure that Mwenda faces the full force of the law.

Mwenda’s father has, however, defended his son, maintaining he was a qualified lawyer and advocate of the High Court.

“He pursued a diploma course in criminology that enabled him to join Strathmore University in 2017. He graduated in 2020. In 2021, he joined the Kenya School of Law (KSL), upon which he successfully completed his studies in December 2022,” he said.
