-Evelyn Anite has admitted repossessing an ambulance she donated after her constituents failed to vote for her
-The Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization said she has no apologies
-Anite had vied for the Koboko District parliamentary seat but lost to her opponent in 2021.
It is a known fact that vying for a political seat is like engaging in gambling.
As such, the unwritten rule is to remain calm even when voters gobble up your resources and decline to vote for you. This is what is expected, okay?
In a similar vein, taking the high road concurs with Michelle Obama’s advice, “to go high when they go low.”
Well, Ugandan voters’ decision to reject a candidate who bought them an ambulance, met with an ‘I-can-also-drill-oil response’ from the jilted politician.
Evelyn Anite had given an ambulance to her constituents with hopes that they would vote for her. That was in 2021, and the story sounded like a rumour.
The story resurfaced on October 2, 2023, and Evelyn brazenly admitted to repossessing the said ambulance.
The story resurfaced after an X (formerly Twitter) account going by the handle @AfricaFactsZone published the news of her post-election reaction.
“Ugandan politician Evelyn Anite took back an ambulance she donated to her district after losing an election in 2021,” they tweeted.
Many expected Anite Evelyn to steer clear of the discussion or at least deny the claims.

However, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) politician admitted her actions without any remorse.
“@AfricaFactsZone, Thank you for bringing this up. First, it’s true I took back my ambulance, & I have no apologies for that. Why did I do it? It’s because they didn’t vote for me. So did you expect me to walk away with nothing? Galatians 6:7 A man reaps what he sows!” she wrote in a tweet.
After the admission, someone remarked, “You are shameless. So it’s just in ur(sic) compound?” to which she retorted, “I am shameless to the extent that I sold it!”

Anite went ahead to correct a friend who had tried to defend her.
“Fake news. My best friend @HonAniteEvelyn can not do that. She has done more for her region than most of politicians from that region…” said the friend.
Evelyn Anite set the record straight, with the backing of scripture.
“My dear, I actually did it, and I am very proud of my action! Once they said go away, I packed all my belongings and left them. Now I hear people crying as if I was the first one to call it quits. The Bible says the wage of sin is death!” she said.

The politician further stated that she had gone through pain after losing the elections, maintaining that what the voters had done to her wasn’t a good thing.
“My dear, you are not even feeling the pain I went through after losing elections. What makes you think what they did to me was good and what I did was bad? Feel the pain I felt that day,” she stated in a separate post.
“Like seriously, why would you vote out someone who has given you an ambulance?” posed Anite.

The politician went on to say that she had used her own money, not the money from taxpayers, to purchase the ambulance.
