Anne Adhiambo, the main suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo, has pleaded guilty to the murder charges.
Adhiambo repeatedly said “Ni Ukweli” (It’s true) when the charges were read to her three times in Swahili.
She appeared before High Court Judge Kaanyi Kimondo to take a plea on Thursday, October 26.
The prosecution told the court that the suspect is an adult of sound mind.
The court informed Adhiambo of the potential consequences as she entered her plea and gave her time to speak with her lawyers.
“Nakupa muda zaidi Ndio uweze kuongea na wakili wako ambaye Yuko mahakamani mzungumze wakuelezee vizuri kile unachoambia mahakama…” the judge said.
Adhiambo will be expected to take another plea at Kibera Law Courts, where the matter has been referred to.
Meanwhile, the suspect will be held at the Langata women’s prison pending the mention of the case on November 8.
Adhiambo was arraigned last Wednesday, and the prosecution asked to keep the suspects in custody while the investigation was ongoing.
