Ferdinand Omanyala Wins 100m Commonwealth Gold

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has warmed the hearts of Kenyans after emerging victorious in the Commonwealth Games.

Omanyala won the men’s 100 metres making him the first Kenyan to win the race since 1960.

He dethroned the defending champion Akani Simbine after running 10.2 seconds.

Simbine settled for the the second position by running 10.13 seconds while Sri Lankan Yukun Abeykoon took the bronze in 10:14.

The win sparked reactions from netizens who congratulated the sprinter for the iconic moment in Birmingham.
