Pengine waniuwe lakini sitarudi nyuma – DP Ruto on plot to stop his 2022 bid

Deputy President William Ruto has spoken about what he terms as an elaborate plan to stop his 2022 bid.

Speaking during the burial of Kipyegon Kenei, DP Ruto said the plot had been hatched by people who were determined to paint his office in bad light and ensure he did not succeed in his 2022 bid.

He said the murder of Kenei was one of the schemes to drive a wedge between him and the Kalenjin community.

DCI

Ruto slammed the Directorate of Criminal Investigation for being used in the smear campaign.

A visibly angry Ruto told the DCI to refuse to be drawn into political schemes whose end was the 2022 poll.

“I want to tell the DCI to be professional and leave politics. The DCI is being used to undermine my office, to bring me down. Many of them are not ashamed of saying William Ruto will not be there but they’re walking free,” said the DP.

“There’s a huge scheme that has been orchestrated to demean and destroy my office and to ensure that I don’t get anywhere. I want to tell them, they may have the system but we have God,” said the DP.

Ruto, who spoke in shaky voice and is only known to speak in that manner during tense time like after the nullification of the 2017 poll and after retired president Mwai Kibaki was declared winner in 2007 poll, however said he would not back down from his ambition.

“ Na wale wanaoendesha njama hii. Nataka niwaeleze ya kwamba pengine waniuwe mimi lakini sitarudi nyuma. Kwa sababu Kenya ni ya Wakenya wote,” said the DP.

He personally pledged to assist Kenei’s family and see to it the culprits were brought to book. The deceased cop is survived by a widow and two children.
