A grisly road accident occurred at Shauri Moyo along the Malindi – Mombasa highway killing at least 2 people and left 16 others injured.
Among the vehicles involved in the early Tuesday morning accident were those of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s nephew and niece.

According to witnesses, Abu Joho’s daughter Ummi Joho and her husband Haikel Oswego were being driven in a Toyota Landcruiser VX KBB 451T when a canter lorry lost control and hit their car.
Sources say that the V8 driven by Joho’s nephew collided with the matatu.
The injured victims were rushed to Kilifi County Referral Hospital.
Abu’s son was then involved in another serious accident just about 150 metres from the first accident.

Kilifi health CEO confirmed that two people had died while 16 others injured.
