The late ex-president, Daniel Moi popularly known as Mzee Moi, has been laid to rest at his family home in Kabarak.
Mzee Moi was sent off in a manner befitting a king: a 19-gun salute by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) preceded by elaborate military burial rites.
The ceremony was attended by thousands of mourners and a host of political leaders, led by Uhuru Kenyatta.
Those who spoke at the event told of a generous man who led a disciplined lifestyle.
The ceremony, which was heavily steeped in military traditions regarding sending off a fallen Commander-In-Chief, started with a lengthy service at Kabarak University before the military took over.
At around 4 pm., a series of events, including The Last Post, a 19-gun salute, a fly-past by military jets, and Reverie, reminded the boots that a former Commander-In-Chief had faded.
