Inside ex-CJ David Maraga’s retirement package

Former Chief Justice David Maraga received special bonuses as he was retiring from office on Monday, January,12.

Retired Maraga was awarded KSh 15,934,656 retirement package which was similar to one year salary he received while in office.

He used to get paid approximately KSh 1,328,000 when he was in office.

He was assured an 80 percent monthly pension of his last pay which was KSh 1,062,400 per month.

The ex-CJ was allowed an inpatient medical cover of KSh 10,000,000 and an Outpatient medical cover of 300,000.

He will access KSh 75,000 for Optical cover and another equal amount for dental cover.

The former Supreme Court President’s insurance covers will be available for his wife.

Maraga was further given two armed security guards for his security and will also be granted two saloon cars.

Apart from the two saloon cars, he will also receive a four-wheel-drive car. Her will be allowed to change them if he wants to once in four years.

The former will also get staff who will work for him and get paid by the government.

He will get a personal assistant, Secretary, two drivers,garner and a cleaner of his office.

Maraga can only start enjoying the benefits once he has filed a request with the Interior Ministry.
