Asha Mwilu exits Citizen TV to start own company

Citizen TV Special projects Editor Asha Mwilu has called it quits with the Royal Media Services owned media house.

Through her Twitter page, Mwilu said that she is leaving to launch her own start-up company.

She went ahead to thank her colleagues – among the Linus Kaikai, Jamila Mohammed, Joe Ageyo, Pamela Asigi, Wahiga Mwaura and Mashirima Kapombe – whom she described as bright minds.

She also thanked her fans who have been watching her stories further saying that she can’t wait to share details of her new projects

“And to all of you incredible people who gave me feedback, constructive criticism and such great engagement on my stories. I thank you. I can’t wait to share my new projects with you! A hint of what’s next #Debunk,” added Asha Mwilu.

Before joining Citizen TV, Mwilu was features and documentaries editor at Standard Group’s KTN.

In 2016, she won the CNN Multichoice African Journalist of the Year Awards alongside cameraman Rashid Idi with a story dubbed Terror Crossing investigating terror activities in Mandera and its border with Somalia.

In 2013, she was also named the reporter of the year by the Media Council of Kenya for her documentary Armies of the Underworld in 2013.

Mwilu holds a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the United States International University (USIU) and a masters degree in Documentary Practice from the University of the Creative Arts in the UK.
