How to Okoa Stima

Okoa Stima is a service that allows KPLC customers to avoid power disconnections by allowing them to borrow any amount within their credit limits thanks to Safaricom and M-pesa.

A customer will be offered power tokens for those in prepaid services and have to pay back within 7 days.

The service from Safaricom is served at a 10% fee via M-pesa and allows users to register up to 3 meters.

It should be noted that Un-registered meters are ineligible for the service.

How to register for Okoa Stima service

  1. Dial *885# and accept terms and conditions.
  2. Enter your National ID
  3. Set your secret PIN and confirm.
  4. A confirmation SMS will be sent to you
  5. Choose continue to register meter/account and select register new
  6. Select either Prepaid or Postpaid depending on your KPLC meter account.
  7. Click OK

How to pay your KPLC Power Bill using *885#

  1. Using a Safaricom Sim Card, Dial *885# and enter your PIN
  2. Choose Post-Pay
  3. From registered accounts, select the account you want to pay for, (outstanding bill will be displayed)

    Select pay bill via M-Pesa

  4. Either choose full or part payment, enter the amount and submit.
  5. A confirmation message will be sent.

How to buy KPLC Tokens using *885#

  1. Dial *885# and enter PIN
  2. Select pre-paid
  3. Select the meter you want to buy token for
  4. Your M-PESA account will be deducted
  5. You’ll receive a confirmation message

How prepaid users can request Okoa Stima

  1. Dial *885# and enter PIN
  2. Select pre-paid
  3. Select Okoa Stima
  4. Select ‘request emergency top up’
  5. Select the Meter
  6. Select preset Okoa amounts ranging from Ksh.100 to 1000 and confirm

How postpay users can request Okoa Stima

  1. Dial *885# and enter PIN
  2. Select post paid
  3. Select the account, the bill on the account will be automatically displayed
  4. Select Okoa Stima and follow steps
