DCI detectives have arrested a woman in connection with a bomb scare incident at Doctor’s Park in Parklands on January 30.
The bomb scare triggered by a note that was left on the fifth floor of the building caused panic with occupiers of the building running helter-skelter.
In a message posted on DCI social media channels, the prime suspect in the incident Meera Dinesh Patel was arrested on Sunday, January 2 after DCI and Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) detectives undertook the Crime Scene processing.
According to DCI, the suspect posted the message that caused a scare after she failed to clinch a managerial position she had applied.
“The Hoax which saw the evacuation of all the tenants from the residential building as the DCI Bomb Disposal Unit and the ATPU team were screening it for any explosives came two days after the former manager of the property retired and was replaced.”
“Ms Dinesh (a tenant there) had expressed interest in taking up the manager’s position but was not successful.”
The DCI further said CCTV reviews and other corroborative evidence had placed her at the core of the investigation.
