Kenyans were shocked on Friday afternoon after learning of the death of Daniel Koikai.
Koikai was discovered dead in his house on Friday, June 14, the day of his daughter’s burial.
He had on Thursday given a moving tribute in memory of her illustrious daughter, Jahmby Koikai.
In his eulogy, Daniel Koikai admitted his failings as an absentee father who was not there during her daughter’s special moments.
He also deeply regretted not being there as her daughter battled endometriosis.
Koikai further described his daughter’s death as one of his lowest moments and for the entire family.
“A time has come for me to atone for my acts of omission or commission on your final journey.”
He further admitted abandoning Njambi and her mother only to show up when she was a teenager.
“It was only when you got to Form One and I was back in the country that we were able to meet when you came to the office to look for me.”
“I ask here in public, where I may not have fulfilled my duties as your dad, please forgive me,” he said in a solemn tome.
What caused Daniel Koikai’s death?
Daniel Koikai died on the burial date of her daughter at the Lang’ata cemeteries.
His body was discovered in his house, and the circumstances surrounding his death are not clear.
However, some sources have intimated that the old man might have suffered depression triggered by the passing of his daughter.
Daniel Koikai represented Kenya in a number of other countries, including Switzerland, Nigeria, and Liberia.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta bestowed the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) on Koikai in 2018.

He was then serving as a director in the Kenya-South Sudan Liaison Office.
Njambi, a celebrated reggae hypewoman, news anchor, and radio presenter, died on June 4 after a brave battle with endometriosis.
