Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has slammed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report launch organisers for breaking protocol during the event held at Bomas.
Speaking on K24, Khalwale said inviting Deputy President William Ruto to speak before ODM leader amounted to impunity.
The unusual arrangement at Bomas of Kenya where Raila invited President Uhuru Kenyatta to speak was a subject of discussion on social media with sections of netizens saying it went against the usual protocol where it is the DP who invites the President.
Speaking on K24 on Thursday, November 28, Khalwale who termed the protocol hitch an act of impunity also questioned how Suna East MP Junet Mohamed ended up the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
“The problem facing this country is impunity. It is impunity that allowed DP Ruto to be reduced to third last speaker when he was meant to be the 2nd last,” he said.
It is also impunity that allowed Junet to be the MC when it was unprecedented.”
“Where did you ever find a situation whereby the Deputy President of Kenya invites ‘raia kama Khalwale’ to speak after him? Former PM ni raia”
Khalwale remarks come as Senator Kipchumba Murkomen slammed Junet for excluding a section of leaders from speaking at the event.
“It starts with those who mobilised the people who came to this podium. Because if this podium is going to be used to lecture other people then give them a chance to express their views. We must come out and give out our voices,” said Murkomen.
However, some analysts opined the BBI document was a product of the Handshake between Raila and Uhuru thus making the two the chief guests of the events.
