Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru on Wednesday, August 31 found himself on the receiving end shortly after making his submission before the Supreme Court.

The lawyer was representing petitioner David Ngare in the presidential petition that is seeking to nullify President-elect William Ruto’s victory.

While making his submission, Njiru hit out at Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati accusing him of subverting the will of the people every time he presides over a presidential petition.

Njiru’s submission became a topic of discussion after claiming that Chebukati tallied results out of the 290 constituencies in the constitution.

He argued that Diaspora is not recognized as constituency within the confines of the law; this is amid arguments that Diaspora is a constituency without a representative in the National Assembly.

As such, Njiru wants the Supreme Court to nullify the August 9 General Election.

“Chebukati and Ruto in their affidavits say elections were held in 291 constituencies. The constitution says there 290 constituencies in Kenya

“Where did this extra constituency come from? Is it a constituency within the meaning of the law?” Njiru argued.

The lawyer’s argument sparked reactions from netizens who trolled him over the same as seen from comments below.
