President Uhuru Kenyatta’s most popular cousin, Kung’u Muigai has said that the people of Mt Kenya will not align with the president’s political direction.

Speaking while appearing on NTV, he said though people from the mountain love Uhuru, they grew fond of Deputy President William Ruto when he picked him as president.

As such, Muigai says it is hard for the people of Mt Kenya to vote for Raila Odinga because they already love DP Ruto.

“When people saw Uhuru joining hands with Ruto, they were excited and had him in their hearts. Ruto is in their hearts. Uhuru is very much loved to date in Mt Kenya

“However, people have refused the direction he wants the region to take,” he said.

This is not the first time Muigai is dismissing Raila’s candidature, in March, he said Uhuru’s decision to appoint the ODM leader as his preferred successor is his personal decision.

He noted that Uhuru’s decision did not represent the Kenyatta family, adding that the move to endorse Raila was against the oath taken by the GEMA nation in 1969.

Muigai later apologized maintaining that he did not mean to embarrass President Kenyatta and he was indeed sorry since his comments were taken out of context.

“My respect for the President of the Republic of Kenya is unquestionable and I have proved it over and over again. I have stood with him in all his political endeavours and there is no way, there is no way that I would criticize him for his actions or his decisions. It is unthinkable, moreso in the press

“I am privileged that I have access to H.E the President at any time and it is unfathomable to my family and to my friends that I would have the audacity to address His Excellency through the media,” Muigai said.
