Singer Bahati, Edwin Sifuna Trade Insults on Twitter over Mathare MP Seat

Controversial musician Kevin Kioko, alias Bahati and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna recently engaged in a heated Twitter spat over the musician’s quest for Mathare parliamentary seat.

The argument started after Sifuna claimed that Bahati had bowed out of the race in favour of incumbent Anthony Oluoch.

Oluoch is vying for the seat on ODM ticket while Bahati is running under a Jubilee ticket; both parties are members of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance.

“Zoning was done perfectly even here in Mathare we have agreed that its an ODM zone. We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch, this young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk

“I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government,” Sifuna said during a joint delegates meeting between ODM and Jubilee members.

The statement irked Bahati who fired back claiming that the ODM SG had been paid by Oluoch to spread propaganda about his parliamentary bid.

“You have already been given three million by my losing opponent to lie that I have stepped down and “you” will offer me a job in the Azimio government

“You want to give me a job as who? Stay away from Mathare politics and focus on your bid or you will lose again like in 2017,” the musician said.

The drama continued with Sifuna sharing a video of a Jubilee Party official saying that the party will not field a candidate in Mathare in favour of ODM.

Captioning the video, Sifuna mocked Bahati saying;

“Ahsante sana wana Jubilee Party Nairobi for resolving the Mathare question for us. We now have a candidate. Hio kijana ya kulia lia nitachukua apology yake kwa Diana personally.”

The statement did not sit well with Bahati who rebuked Sifuna for dragging his wife into the matter, asking him to have respect for women.

“F*ck you Mr Sifuna. Keep your mouth away from mentioning my wife in your cheap politics!!! have some respect for women,” Bahati answered.
