Siaya Governor James Orengo has declared that the Linda Mwananchi faction will not quit the ODM party but will instead stay inside and fight for its soul from within.
Speaking during an explosive Friday night interview on Obinna Show Live, Orengo dismissed any talk of walking away from the orange party, insisting the battle ahead is an internal rebellion, not a divorce.
“We have a responsibility to the membership,” Orengo declared.
“There are people who believe that we must defend and protect the party called ODM as a party.”
After the death of Raila Odinga, ODM has mutated into a house divided against itself: corridors filled with suspicion, silent camps, whispered betrayals, and competing power centres sharpening knives behind closed doors.
For months, loyalists in the Oburu Odinga-led camp have accused the Linda Mwananchi camp, led by James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, of weakening late Raila Odinga’s political engine from within.

Orengo and Sifuna say ODM is drifting away from the democratic fire and people-first spirit that once made it a political tsunami across Kenya.
“I can actually say 80 per cent of the membership of ODM is supporting the Linda Mwananchi faction,” he claimed, adding that more than 30 ODM coordinators and chairpersons are now aligned with the reform push.
