Kelvin Kiptum Beats Eliud Kipchoge’s Record to Become New King of Marathon

Kelvin Kiptum has shattered the men’s marathon world record in Chicago.

Kiptum beat Eliud Kipchoge’s previous record by more than 30 seconds after finishing in a time of two hours and 35 seconds.

Dutch runner Sifan Hassan set the second-fastest women’s time in marathon history as she won the female event.

The female event saw Dutch runner Sifan Hassan win the event, setting the second-fastest women’s time in marathon history.

Hassan’s 2:13:44 is behind only the record of 2:11.53 set by Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa in Berlin last month.

Kiptum, who seems poised for greater things, won the London Marathon in April at 2:01:26, which is just 18 seconds more than Kipchoge’s world record.

He has so far participated in a total of three marathons.
