According to Nation, the management resorted to grouping the learners according to gender as other students refused to mention the perpetrator.

“Since the voice was of a female student, we had to separate the two genders to narrow down on who had violated the rules,” he said.

“She was being protected by her classmates. It took long before some students decided to admit that she was the one who spoke in Dholuo.”

Eunice Achieng’, who is the girl’s mother, is worried that the suspension could hurt her daughter’s performance.

A male student who allegedly tried to incite other students was also suspended.
