A 46-year old woman was declared dead only to then wake up in a body bag at a funeral home.
Gladys Rodríguez de Duarte, who suffers from ovarian cancer was presumed dead at San Fernando Clinic a private clinic in Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay where she had been admitted after experiencing a a severe spike in blood pressure.
Two hours after her admission to the health facility, one Dr Heriberto Vera, mistakenly declared Gladys dead of cervical cancer, handing a death certificate to her husband and daughter and her body moved to Duarte e Hijos funeral home, New York Post reported.
However, workers at a funeral home noticed Gladys’s body was moving inside the body bag moments before her body was booked to the morgue.
The patient was quickly rushed to intensive care, where she continues receiving treatment.
Glady’s husband, Maximino Duarte Ferreira, has reportedly filed a complaint against the doctor.
“He assumed she was dead and handed her naked to me like an animal with her death certificate. He didn’t even revive her. We trusted him, that’s why we went there. But they disconnected her and passed her off to the funeral home,” he lamented.
