The police are in pursuit of two armed robbers who shot and killed traders at Adams Market in Woodley, Nairobi County.
According to reports, Sophia Gathoni and Paul Githinji were killed by the two robbers who were targeting M-PESA shops.
According to a CCTV footage of the Saturday, June 11 incident, Gathoni was closing her business at around 7 pm when a man came and asked for cigarettes.
However, when Gathoni entered inside the shop, the man drew his gun and pointed it at the 53-year-old before shooting.
The robber’s accomplice tries to forcefully enter the shop but Gathoni fights him prompting the first robber to shoot her once more.
The robber shot her and she fell down while wailing in pain.
The second victim, Githinji, was shot a few meters from the shop while responding to Gathoni’s distress call.

The two were rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital but Githinji died hours later.
On the other hand, Gathoni was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where she succumbed to gunshot injuries on Tuesday, June 12.
According to Gathoni’s son Eric Kamau, his mother was shot in the chest and her arm.
“According to the postmortem, she received multiple gun shots; moja ilipita through mkono ika exit, ika re-enter tena through kifua, ikaenda ikapass through the lungs, liver na ika-exit. Hiyo ingine ikaenda ikaland nyuma ya mgongo,” said Kamau.
Police recovered the bullets from the victim’s body for ballistic examinations.
