Watch CCTV footage of 3 Kayole police officers stealing KSh 6 M from Nairobi businessmen

DCI detectives from Pangani on October 4 arrested the three police officers attached at Kayole Police Station along with a Cameroonian national.

This is after they robbed two victims USD 60,000 (KSh 6 million) at Barwqo Lodge, 8th Street 2nd Avenue, Eastleigh.

The three police officers identified as Corporal Wilson Cheruiyot, Constable Daniel Kipkorir and Constable Alex Kandie and the Cameroonian Jean Baptist Esome were found with USD 35,200 (KSh. 3,520,000).

Three Pistols and 45 Rounds of ammunition also recovered. Search for the two Fugitives believed to possess the rest of the money ongoing.

The three police officers together with Cameroonian Jean Baptist Esome were arraigned Monday, October 7 where DCI officer Isaac Kiplangat of Pangani Directorate of Criminal Investigations sought to custodial orders to detain the suspects for three days pending the probe into the robbery.

Kiplangat also obtained orders compelling management of  Barwaqo Hotel to avail CCTV footage covering the incident.

The three were armed and deployed in Kayole station area on October 4. They left their area of deployment and went to Eastleigh in Starehe division where they committed the offence with other two suspects who are still at large,” said Kiplangat in his application filed at Makandara Law Courts.

Out of the KSh 6 million robbed which was in US dollars , only Sh3.5 million was recovered.
