President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday led Kenyans in paying their last respects to the retired president Daniel Moi who passed on while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday, February 4.
As the current Commander-In-Chief, Uhuru was the first one to officially view the body at Parliament building at 10:40 am.
The president and the First Lady were received by Deputy President William Ruto and Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe.
The late president’s body will be at Parliament Buildings until Monday and the members of the public can view it between today and Monday from 8am to 5pm.
Earlier in the morning, President Kenyatta addressed the nation from State House extolling Moi as a great leader who mentored many.
“..A passing cloud” that served with distinction for 24 years. A decisive and courageous Commander-in Chief of formidable achievements, who chose well and always put the country first,” said the president.
