The National Police Service (NPS) has reacted to a video of a woman claiming to be a police officer harassing revellers at a city entertainment joint.

In a statement, NPS Spokesperson Bruno Shioso clarified that the woman in the viral videos is not a police inspector as she claimed.

Shioso said the woman who has since been identified as Sheila Chepkoech Too is an officer working for the Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS).

“This is to confirm to the public that the said lady as portrayed is not a police officers under the NPS as believed but an enforcement officer working for NMS

“Any claim made by her being a police inspector is viewed as impersonation of a police officer,” Shioso said.

In the video, Chepkoech who appears totally drunk is seen harassing another reveller while threatening to arrest her.

After a brief altercation, the officer then snatches the reveller’s phone and demands to have her purse to check if it contained any drugs.

Chepkoech who then claims that she is a Police Inspector said she has the right to search her at any given time without any form of explanation.

“I am a police officer, I am allowed to touch your phone, I’m allowed to search your bag, I’m allowed to search your house, we have the power of arrest, power of entry into premises,” she said.
