Youths from Nairobi’s eastland’s got an opportunity to update DP William Ruto withy the latest sheng vocabulary.
If there is one politician who is at ease mingling with common wananchi, it has to be one DP William Ruto.
And so it happened the second most powerful politician in the land was in Eastlands on Friday, September 20 to inspect ongoing construction of the Eastern Transmission Pipeline.
It is while addressing a group of youths in Dandora that the DP learnt that he needed to update his sheng vocabulary.
“Mimi nataka mnisikize kwa makini na msije mkasema kwamba hamkupata habari. Saa hii mmeniambia hamkupata habari. Sasa nimewapatia habari. Habari mmepata ama bado? mko rada sasa? mko chonjo? mko masaa?” posed the DP.
But the DP’s use of sheng words of ‘rada’ and masaa which have been around for more than a decade stirred the excited youths who responded to DP with the current word: rieng.
‘Mko yeye?’ the DP had inquired.
“Tuko rieng” the frenzied youths had responded.
“Oh, mko rieng? Nyinyi siku moja mtaniua na Sheng. Kumbe mambo yamebadilika,” he responded.
