Jubilee Party secretary
general Raphael Tuju has resigned from his position as Jubilee Party Secretary
General.
Tuju has been replaced
by Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni who is now expected to steer
the party into Azimio Coalition that will face off with William Ruto in the
August 9 poll.
He revealed that he
had the President’s blessings to step down from the party and Cabinet
positions.
“The President
has believed so much in uniting this country that he has been ready to reach
out to those who are his opponents. This is not a new thing, it is something he
started in 2012-2013,” said Tuju.
Tuju made the
announcement during the party’s National Delegates Convention that was held at
the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on Friday, February 26.
The former Rarieda MP
who hinted going into elective politics thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for
entrusting him with the crucial position in the party.
“You have stood
with me. I don’t know how you dared to trust me coming from four kilometres
away from the home of your chief competitor. Thank you so much,” he added.
Tuju noted that he was
ready to take up any role that will be assigned to him by President Uhuru in
the latest restructure and rebranding of the Jubilee party.
