Miguna suffers backlash from netizens after criticizing retired president Kibaki’s shoes

On Sunday, February 9 controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna found himself on an unfamiliar territory after he criticized former president Mwai Kibaki’s pair of shoes.

Miguna opined that Kibaki had looted billions during his regime, built mansions with complete fueling stations and servants at his beck and call.

He said that the retired president was being paid millions yet no one could dress him with a decent pair of shoes.

“Kenyans pay retired presidents who have looted billions like Mwai Kibaki millions annually; hire dozens of servants including drivers, cooks, and bodyguards; and even built mansions with complete fuel stations, yet no one could dress up Kibaki with a decent pair of shoes today?,” read his post on Facebook.

However, Miguna’s criticism didn’t go well with Kenyans who descended on him with all manner of harsh words with others calling him petty.

One James Mwangi told Miguna that Kibaki’s shoes were meant to help with mobility for people who have Arthritis or were involved in an accident.

“Miguna you’re becoming pettier each day. Kibaki is fitting orthopedic shoes as a prescription by his doctor. After all, it was not a fashion fair or gala,” wrote Mwangi.

Others wondered whether the self-proclaimed NRM general was feigning ignorance of what kind of shoes Kibaki wore.

“Orthopaedic shoes are shoes that are specifically designed to support or accommodate the mechanics and structure of the foot, ankle, and leg, and they have a number of medically beneficial features and functions that separate them from everyday footwear.”

“Miguna hujui, ama nikujifanya tu….,” wondered one Titus Kalungu.

Others warned him against criticizing everything he came across since most of the time he ended up displaying his arrogance.

Kibaki, who served as country’s second president between 2003 – 2013 is credited for transforming country’s economic fortunes after 24 years of economic doldrums under Moi.
