However, a heartbreaking thing happened as her father was denied visa.
The authorities only agreed to offer the visa to him after Michelle had settled to work.
Unfortunately, the father died before seeing the fruits of her daughter.
Just like any other kid, Michelle had sworn to take care of her family.
“I had told myself that as soon as I finish school and find a job, I would take care of my parents. I didn’t want them to suffer in their old age,” she said.
Michelle luckily got a job in 2014 at Tallow Oil in Kenya and becoming the first African Petroleum engineer.
Immediately she secure the job, she began planning her main goal which was to build her mother a house.
The engineer asked her mother to draw a plan of the kind of house she wanted and Michelle only upgraded what was sent to be a modern style.
She said that her mother wanted a close verandah but she did an open patio.
“She wanted a closed verandah, but since it was supposed to be a big house and was in her own compound, I did an open patio. I also made the rooms bigger,” she said.
Just like any other construction, Michelle admitted that the construction of the house was not easy.
“Nothing was easy at all, even finding a legit contracter but she says chose to support her mother till all is done. Being an engineer, I held my mother’s hands and told her that we would build the house together,” she said.
