Deputy President William Ruto has termed former CS Rashid Echesa and other suspects who accessed his office during the KSh 39.5 billion fake arms deal as crooks who breached security.
In a statement released by his Chief of Staff Ken Osinde, Ruto insisted that Echesa and his companions were in his office for 22 minutes and the better part of the tapes show movements outside the office.
DCI on Thursday said Echesa and his accomplices were at DP’s office for 1 hr 22 minutes and not 23 minutes as earlier revealed by DP Ruto.
“We appreciate efforts made by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to the Office of the Deputy President by crooks and cartels as well as investigations into the death of sergeant Kipyegon Kenei,” read the statement dispatched to newsrooms Thursday evening.
“The entry into the office of the Deputy President that was aided by some officers was a breach of security.”
Ruto urged the investigative bodies to expensive investigations and bring to book anyone found culpable.
DCI George Kinoti on Thursday, March 5 told the press that Kenei’s death was connected to the KSh 39.5 billion weapons scandal.
He observed that Kenei’s murder was stage-managed to appear like suicide.
According to him, the officer was killed to safeguard the source of the KSh 39.5 billion military arms tender deal.
” The motive of the cold murder is very clear. It was simply to safeguard, protect, insulate and or save the source from the adverse involvement and attendance consequences using the country military procurement process in the most deceitful and fraudulent manner,” Kinoti said.
