He also confirmed that Floyd’s family had accepted the offer.
“He’ll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, (Mayweather) is definitely paying for the funeral,” Ellerbe said. “He has done these kind of things over the last 20 years.”
According to Floyd’s family lawyer, the deceased’s funeral will be held on June 9 in Houston.
However, before the funeral, the family will hold a memorial service in Minneapolis on Thursday and a memorial service on Saturday in North Carolina, where Floyd was born.
“In Minneapolis, there will be a memorial here Thursday, at 1pmto 3pm. On Saturday, there will be a memorial service in North Carolina, where he was born, at 1pm to 3pm. And then on Tuesday, June 9, the funeral will take place in Houston, Texas at 11 am,” said Attorney Benjamin Crump, who is representing the Floyd family.
Floyd died on May 27 after a white policeman knelled on his neck causing a difficulty in breathing.
Floyd lost oxygen and became unresponsive after almost three minutes, he was put inside an ambulance but was later declared dead.
