Elgeyo Marakwet county now becomes the third county to reject the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill.
During a debate on Tuesday,March 2, 17 County Members of Assembly voted ‘No’ while 15 others voted ‘Yes’ and one member abstained.

According to the county assembly speaker Philomen Sabulei, the MCA’s adhered to laws while voting.
“A total of 17 MCAs voted yes to the bill while 15 of them voted in favour. This shows we are a very democratic county because you can see there was only a difference of two votes. There was no pressure from outside at all,” Sabulei said.
Nandi County was the second county to rejecting the BBI bill.
In Nandi 23 MCA’s voted No while 13 voted Yes.
Baringo County was the first county in Kenya to reject the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendment Bill.
Chaos ensued at the County Assembly on Thursday, February 11 during the BBI debate.

The bill passed the required number to move to the next step which is the parliament.
