Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale is in mourning following the death of her first wife Adelaide.
Khalwale broke the sad news through his social media channels Saturday, October 5.
Addressing the Press on Saturday, Khalwale revealed his wife of 39 years had battled major health challenges for over 16 years.
He said Adelaide was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2003 but got better after undergoing treatment including operation and chemotherapy.
” From 2003 when she was first first diagnosed with cervical cancer, we as a family refused to be intimidated by possibility of death..we remained unbowed but unfortunately she’s dead,” said Khalwale.
Khalwale who is a doctor by training said early this year, the departed was diagnosed with cancer of the blood and was put on treatment and even showed good progress.
He disclosed that the final straw might have been the pulmonary hypertension she suffered two days before her demise.
Pulmonary hypertension is a type of high blood pressure that affects the arteries in your lungs and the right side of the heart.
” Two days ago, she developed pulmonary hypertension and had taken drugs for only two days before her death,” said Khalwale.
His friends and followers showed him with comforting messages wishing him peace during the trying time.
The body of Adelaide has been taken to St. Elizabeth’s Mukumu Hospital’s mortuary pending burial arrangement.
