Popular actress Jacqueline Nyaminde, alias Wilbroda on Monday, July 20 mourned Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula saying his death has hit her hard and it’s too difficult to comprehend.
Wilbroda who acted as the wife of Bukeko in Citizen TV’s Papa Shirandula series, eulogised him as a father, mentor and friend who promoted talents.

“He was my friend, my mentor and was a great uncle to my son. We had grown closer as a team… I have been replaying the last conversation I had with Papa, even the meals we shared and even the fact that particularly this last month alone we did so much work together we worked on so many projects. I am broken,” she said.
The actress also conveyed her condolences to the bereaved family and assured the actor’s widow of her full support.
“Mama, let me assure you that I have not stopped thinking of you and your children. Your children and mine are friends, sorry for your loss,” Wilbroda said.
On her part, Jacky Vike, alias Awinja Nyamwalo mourned the departed TV star as a dream maker, attributing her success in the acting career to him.
In a lengthy social media post, Awinja recalled how Bukeko gave her a chance to act at the popular TV series.
“This Man, Charles Bukeko, #PapaShirandula, the first time he called me for the role #Awinja I remember I told him “No I am not good with accents but I know someone who can bring out the Luhya accent really well,” she recalled.
“I went ahead and gave him my friend’s number, Eh! a month later he called me saying “manze Vike I believe you can bring out this role really well, acha kufikiria accent sana kuja tufanye kazi,” so I went zile za Ah! acha niende tu I carry it as a challenge, and guys the rest is history,” added Awinja.

Awinja played the role of a house help in the series.

Papa Shirandula died on the morning of Saturday, July 18, at Karen Hospital where he had been rushed after developing breathing problems.
