ODM leader Raila Odinga’s daughter, Rosemary Odinga, has fully regained her eyesight after undergoing specialised treatment in India’s Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eyecare Hospital.

Speaking in an interview with DD TV, the 44-year-old said she can now clearly see after suffering a stroke and brain tumour in 2019, which damaged her optic nerves and led to a loss of vision.

“Before coming to India for treatment, I was pretty much living in darkness. I was simply existing. I was not living. I had a tumour in the brain. I had an aneurysm, so one of the aneurysms was leaking, and that caused a stroke.

“My father heard through a friend of his that there is a treatment that we could try in India called eye weather,” Rosemary said.

Rosemary underwent Ayurveda, a traditional Indian system of medicine that aims to preserve health and wellness by keeping the mind, body, and spirit in balance and preventing disease rather than treating it.

Rosemary’s doctor, Hari Nambudiri, said her optic nerve was extensively damaged, but they were able to help her regain her sight fully.

“When she came a few days ago, she was excited that she could see everything. Before this visit, she had come during the Onam season, and she was fascinated by the taste and smell of the food on offer.

“This time, when she could see the dishes and her room, her happiness knew no bounds,” he said.
