My name has to be on ballot, I won’t step down for anyone in 2022 – Mudavadi

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has said he is not ready to be anyone’s running mate in 2022 race.

Musalia said he was ready for political alliances if he will be the one who will be on the ballot.

He said he had learnt from past betrayals and he was not going to back down for anyone in quest for the big seat.

“You see, they say once bitten, twice shy, I’m open to political alliances and coalitions provided they know I’m in for the presidency,” he said during an interview with Inooro TV’s Michael Njenga.

Mudavadi’s remarks follow Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka who recently reiterated that he would not accept any running mate offer.

“ The only coalition that I will accept is the one that will have my name on the ballot,” said Musyoka.

In the run up to 2013 poll, the baggage of the ICC case weighed heavily on Uhuru and his now Deputy William Ruto and word has it the two approached Mudavadi to face of with Raila Odinga.

However, Uhuru would days later change tune after over 40 MPs from Mt Kenya led by Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki and Rachel Shebesh threatened to back Raila if Uhuru stepped down for Mudavadi.

He went on to contest -albeit unsuccessfully- with Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni as his running mate.

The ANC party leader would again step aside for ODM leader Raila in the 2017 poll under the NASA Coalition.

However, in March 9, 2019 Raila entered the famous Handshake pact with President Uhuru leaving his NASA lieutenants in political cold.
