Kenei’s blood will torment his killers – Father

Cries of pain and anguish rented the air on Friday, March 6 as the body of slain policeman sergeant Kipyegon Kenei’s body arrived at Umash funeral home in Nakuru.

The family was given time to view the body before the requiem mass.

While mourning his son, Kenei’s father John Chesang said that his son’s blood will haunt his killers.

“I have a strong conviction that my son’s blood will torment those who murdered him because he never committed any offense, murder won’t go unpunished,” Chesang said.

He pleaded with the government to ensure his son’s murder is not covered up for the sake of similar officers who could be working in such risky environments.

“I urge all police officers in this country to do their duties without fear. Work diligently and the truth will always stand with and for you. We expect transparency in the investigations without any form of cover-up for the sake of any other officer who may be working in such a risky environment,” he said.

He disclosed that the family was yet to accept the death of Kenei adding that he was glad thorough investigations have been conducted and the truth about Kenei’s death unraveled.

“It has been tough for the family but we are grateful to everyone who supported us. We are glad that the government revealed that our son was murdered,” said Chesang.

He said that the data recovered from his son’s phone made public stating that it would help a lot in the investigations.

“As we lay our son to rest on Saturday we would be glad to hear that suspects in the murder have been arrested. Another thing, the information from Safaricom should be made public, it’s so important than even the postmortem conducted. We got hope when we heard the data had been recovered,” he said.

DCI George Kinoti on Thursday, March 5 disclosed that the arrest of key suspects in the murder will be done in a week’s time.
