This is how to replace lost KCPE or KCSE certificate.
If your Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and/ or your Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Certificates (KCPE) get lost, you can now easily replace them.
The vital documents are issued to candidates by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) after sitting the national examinations.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Certificates (KCPE) is given to a class 8 candidate after sitting the national exams while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is awarded to a Form four candidate who sat for the national examination.
You might have lost the certificates which prove you are a learned person but you you need not to worry much since you can easily replace them.
Requirements for Lost Certificate Replacement
It is important to have the lost documents replaced since they are always required while applying for College or University.
Even while requesting for financial help from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) the document will be a top requirement for loan processing.
1. Download and fill an application form requesting for a replacement certificate
The applicant will be required to login to http://www.knec.ac.ke and click on the certificate replacement and confirmation on your left side.
You can also visit KNEC archives and Records offices and fill the documents with the help of the KNEC staff.
Make sure you have the following before applying:
- Copy of the certificate/ result slip,
- Letter of completion/ recommendation letter from a school
- Sworn legal affidavit Police abstract indicating loss of certificate
- Identity Card (ID)/ passport or birth certificate KNEC bank deposit slip
2. Pay a processing fee
The applicant is required to pay a processing fee KSh 5,000 with an addition of 16% Vat which totals to KSh 5,800 . KNEC uses the following accounts.
- Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)
- Equity Bank
- Co-operative Bank of Kenya
- National Bank of Kenya
You should note that the bank slip must be attached to the form while submitting the document as proof if the payment.
3.Submit the application fee
Make sure that you document has no errors the seal the document into a sealed envelope and send it to:

4. How long does it take for your form to be processed?
After a duration of sixty (60) days, the certificates are usually ready for collection at the KNEC offices.
It should be noted that, the applicant should go for collection of the certificate in person carrying an original Identification Card (ID) or passport. One can be accompanied by parents or guardians who should carry their original ID.

If the applicant does not collect the certificates from a period of 2 years from the date of application, it will be disposed off without further communication and No refund.

5. How you know you certificate has been processed
To check if your certificate has been processed, you can use the Query Management Information System (QMIS) and see the status of your certificate. Use this link: http://qmis.knec.ac.ke.
