The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has slammed ministry officials led by Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha for failing to take a proactive approach to prevent disasters.
Duale, who is also the Garissa Town MP, said it was sad it took the Precious Talent School Tragedy that saw eight pupils killed for the education officials to swing into action.
“The other day we were visited by a mishap in which lives of children were lost. And that’s when we saw the Education CS taking action by closing some schools. I’m asking senior officials led by Education CS, did pupils have to die so that you could act.?”

Duale appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to monitor and take action on CSs who were reactive other than proactive.
“ The other day it took a damning expose by a local media house to jolt Nema and Environment Ministry into action. That’s when the ministry embarked on closing companies responsible for pollution,” he said.
The Majority Leader was on development tour of the constituency on September 28 where he opened Jarirot Women Training Centre Iftin Ward, Garissa Town.
Duale who is also the Garissa Town MP donated over 30 sewing machines for training and empowerment.
8 pupils and over 50 0thers were injured in the Precious Talent School Tragedy after wall of one of the classrooms collapsed on pupils.
