The two Cuban doctors who were abducted by the jihadist Alshabab group have finally been released.
The surgeon Landy Rodríguez and general medicine specialist Assel Herrera Correa were kidnapped in an open fire while travelling to Mandera.

The armed men blocked their salon car and opened fire killing one of the policeman escorting the doctors.
According to a report by a senior Somalia Intelligence, the Alshabaab released the doctors in the weekend after months of negotiations.
The official did not reveal his identity while giving out the information because he was not allowed to address the media. He also refused to give more details.
Sources told the AP that Somali intelligence that was allocated by the government, negotiated for the doctors’ release after it acquired a video showing them a few months ago.

The Ministry of Foreign affairs Kenya when contacted said that they were not aware of the happening.
