Comedian Chipukeezy says US comedy show job prompted him to work on his English

Popular personality and comedian Chipukeezy real name Vincent Mwasia has opened up on learning English due to various features in US comedy shows.

Through an Instagram conversation with his friend, the comedian revealed dreams about crossing the borders and becoming an international comedian.

“I did not want to only be a Kenyan comedian, I wanted to be a worldwide comedian. At that point, I realised I had a disability because I could not speak proper English.

 

So after coming from the US, I told myself that I had to learn the language and took time to do that. I would look for people to teach me. Sometimes they would be speech teachers or Arts tutors who train kids,” he said.

The funnyman added that he always wanted to master the English language but was unable due to challenges during his upbringing.

At the time he was growing up, it was very rare finding a man address another man in English.

“They would look at you as though you are a weak person. It is very different for women. It sounds odd when guys have banter in English,” he added.
