Popular Luo Benga artist Erick Omondi Odit popularly known as Omondi Long’lilo is dead.
Omondi, 37 had been battling cancer for sometime and he unfortunately succumbed to the disease while undergoing treatment at Bondo Sub-county hospital.

Confirming the musician’s death, his wife Goretty Awino and family spokesperson Olima Gondi stated that the father of three died at 4:30 am today (Tuesday, June 16).
The musician had been receiving treatment at the hospital for some time and at some point was appealing for financial help to cater for his medical expenses.
Long’lilo who back in the days ruled the airwaves with his husky voice and engaging lyrics sang with among others Osito Kalle who was his trainer.
In one of his songs dubbed Japuonj, Long’lili praises Osito Kalle, a legendary Benga icon for his ability to nurture other singers.
Kalle’s mentees include, Odhiambo Tusker, Aluoch Pamba, Atommy Sifa and Ogina Koko
Some of his songs include, Goretti Awino, Were wuod Ogalo, Okoth Mang’ang’a, Kong’o shida, Anita Nyausonga and Thomas Mwaya.

Long’lilo’s fans and lovers of Benga music took to social media to mourn his death and send their condolence messages to the family.
