Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) will immediately undertake repair of Mwiki-Kasarani road.
Cyrus Kinoti, Director General at KURA, said KSh 1.7 billion had been set aside for repair works of roads not only in Nairobi but across the country.
He said already a sum of KSh 300 million shillings have been released for the repairs to commence immediately.
The new development follows three days of chaos as the matatu operators in the area started strike on Monday, January 13.
Residents were forced to walk for several kilometers to Roysambu to board PSVs to town. Matters came to a head on Wednesday, January 15 after residents clashed with police during the protests.
Two residents, among them a boy, were reportedly killed during the running battles that lasted for the better part of the day.
