A heavy sense of shock envelops Bahati, a typically quiet area in Nakuru County, following a brutal killing within a family home that has left neighbours murmuring in disbelief and sorrow.
The victim, 73-year-old Peter Kimani, was found fatally injured in his house, his body reportedly lying in a pool of blood after what investigators suspect was a calculated and deeply personal attack.
Allegations of a plot within
Authorities are now probing allegations that the killing was not the work of an outsider alone but a plot allegedly hatched from within his own household.
Police say the elderly patriarch was allegedly targeted following prolonged disputes over family land – a simmering conflict that, according to relatives and reports, had fractured the home long before violence erupted.
The discovery itself was harrowing. A relative who entered the residence reportedly stumbled upon the grisly scene, the elderly man motionless and severely injured, prompting frantic cries and a desperate rush to seek medical help. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Evidence, Claims and Ongoing Probe
Investigators are said to have recovered blood-stained wooden rods hidden in a pit latrine near the homestead – objects believed to be linked to the fatal assault.
Relatives within Nakuru claim the deceased had endured strained relations and alleged mistreatment prior to his death, with some alleging earlier attempts to harm him, including suspected poisoning.
Such claims are currently included in the wider investigation and have yet to be independently verified by the authorities.

Detectives have since launched a full inquiry, with reports indicating that a mother and her three children are under investigation for allegedly conspiring to hire a hitman to eliminate the elderly man amid disagreements over property and inheritance.
